The above symbol, lu, represents a stylisation of the lu character (禄), meaning “prosperity”, “generativity”, “stability”, “firmness”
As I settle comfortably into 2018, looking back with gratitude over the past year is a way to feel completion and start my new year powerfully.
2017 was a year of many firsts for the wonderful people I’ve met, partnered with and supported through my Prosperity Cafe programs and corporate coaching workshops. In my Prosperity Accountability Group (PAG), which I started last year, I saw a number of women surprise themselves. Brainstorming with peers about achieving financial goals led to ‘ah-ha’ moments about new ways to tackle challenges and take action. As one of them put it, “Ideas that members in my PAG group brought forward gave me new ways to look at business growth opportunities I hadn’t considered before.” (Lois T – March 2017)
What 2017 has meant for me
Last January, I declared 2017 to be the year of structure and fulfillment for myself. With the help of my community, I’ve gone to my personal edge numerous times… and crossed over it. I consolidated my course content and created a one-day workshop in which over a hundred women participated. I started to write my book empowering women to own their own “badassed” self and help them design their path to success and fulfillment. I’ve learned to trust my process, my team and, most importantly, myself!
What is my process?
Here’s what works for me:
-
- Have patience. All elements will eventually consolidate. Work out the kinks in the system.
- Listen to feedback and get that necessary external check. My ideas always sound great in my head, but it’s not until I get feedback that I find out how applicable they really are. Never give up. Being an entrepreneur is an exercise in endurance. While I love what I do, I am constantly
confronted by the new challenges of building a business.
- Give up habits and practices that are not productive and don’t work, and create new pathways of thinking and taking action.
Next steps
Is the work you are doing aligned with your prosperity goals? Is there something you want to do, something you are thinking of doing, something you are dreaming of doing, but are hesitant to take action on? If you are interested in aligning your personal and professional goals, and living a life of passion, sign up for the next Women Own Your Badassery: Design Your Path to Success and Fulfillment workshop taking place February 10, 2018.
In the meantime, I am deeply grateful for all the wonderful people I’ve coached and collaborated with this year; and wish all of you an outstanding 2018, filled with abundance!
