Taking the right action, at the right time

Making strategic decisions about which activities to engage in can make the difference between productive work and the “illusion of work.”

Taking the right action. Or the next action. Or simply being in action… Is there a difference? If so, what IS the difference? As highly trained professionals, and super go-getters, we’re trained to be in action all the time. We know that when we take action we get results.

Unfortunately, we sometimes confuse “taking action” with “staying busy.” They are not the same thing. I used to be deeply dissatisfied at the end of the day when I spent time and energy on activities that made me feel I was being productive, but weren’t producing results. Like a hamster on a wheel, I was working hard, but not getting anything meaningful accomplished.

I’ve since learned that simply being in action doesn’t pay off unless it’s moving me toward my goals. In fact, “staying busy” can actually get in the way of reaching my goals. We have only so much mental and physical capacity to spend in a day. If we don’t use our energy wisely, mindfully, with our end goals in mind, chances are we will not take the right action.

Creating the magic…

If you would like to hone your skills at setting priorities and using your time more effectively to “create the magic” that brings you greater success and fulfillment, we should talk. As a certified coach, I work with individuals to help them take the right action, at the right time, for maximum results.

If this is of interest to you, I welcome the opportunity to discuss your goals, needs and challenges.
